Challenges to Citizens’ Participation in Local Governance in Ghana: The Case of Eight Districts

This policy brief highlights the challenges/barriers to citizens’ participation in local governance in Ghana using the eight project districts as a case study. Eight municipalities and districts across four (4) regions in Ghana were studied namely; Lawra Municipal, Wa West District, Wa East District, Wa Municipal and Sissala East Municipal (Upper West Region); West Mamprusi District (Northern Region), Ellembelle District (Western Region) and Twiffo Atti-Mokwa (Central Region).
