Vacancy Announcement – Project Assistant – Cote d’Ivoire

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) in partnership with Paris-based media development organisation, CFI, is implementing a two-year project titled: Equal Voices – Promoting gender equality in the media in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana. The objective is to support gender equality in the media and also promote a better representation of women, as experts and agents of change through media. More specifically, the project aims to strengthen the capacities of male and female media professionals to promote, through their managerial and editorial policies and practices, a better and more balanced gender representation.

The MFWA is seeking a qualified candidate to join the MFWA team as a Project Assistant to support the implementation of the project in Cote d’Ivoire. The ideal candidate must have a good knowledge of media and women empowerment issues, considerable understanding of the media context in Cote d’Ivoire and be familiar with media-sector support project implementation.  The candidate must also have fair knowledge and experience in project management and general administration.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

The Candidate will be working with the Project Manager and will be assisting in the following:

  • Planning and implementation of approved project activities including engagements in Cote d’Ivoire
  • Organising workshops and events, conducting project monitoring meetings and site visits
  • Writing project activity reports
  • Supporting the visibility and outreach of the project
  • Carrying out other administrative tasks that may be assigned

 Qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree in journalism, project management, social science, or a related field is required; Or a Diploma with at least three years of relevant experience in the media sector

Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of experience in programme or project management, media capacity-building initiatives, women empowerment, research and report writing. Experience in the Civil Society/ NGO sector is a distinct advantage. A track record of strong writing skills, analysis and report writing will be an additional advantage.

This position is open to only qualified prospective persons who are based in Cote d’Ivoire.

Language: Candidates should have the ability to speak and write French. Ability to speak and/or write in English will be a great asset.

Location: The staff member will be based in the office of the MFWA’s national partner in Cote d’Ivoire, OLPED.

Contract Terms: Two years, with contract renewal each year.
