Policy Brief: How Local Media are Deepening Social Accountability in the Upper West Region of Ghana

Authorities’ responsiveness to citizens’ questions and concerns still remains a key challenge in local-level governance in Ghana .

Often, local-government authorities are hesitant in disclosing information on the goings on within the districts. The story however is changing in five (5) districts in the Upper West region of Ghana

This policy brief highlights three key ways local-based media in selected the districts, with training and support from the MFWA, are facilitating consistent citizens’- authorities engagements resulting in more proactive responsiveness and actions by local authorities.
