WAMECA stands for the West Africa Media Excellence Conference & Awards instituted by the Media Foundation for West Africa. It seeks to promote media professionalism and excellence while honoring and recognising media excellence in West Africa

Entries open on Wednesday May 2, 2019 and close at 17:00GMT on Sunday June 30, 2019

There are no hardcopy entry forms. Entries must be completed online.

All entries must be original and must have been published or broadcast through a media outlet between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. You can upload any published original work in print or broadcast to participate in the Awards.

Applicants may submit entries to a maximum of two categories and for each category a maximum of two entries.

Joint or group entries are accepted for up to three members where all other WAMECA requirements are met.

Entries will be judged by a panel of highly distinguished, experienced and renowned journalists and media experts  who will determine finalists and then the winners. The overall WAMECA Journalist of the Year Award will be selected from the category winners. 

Entries will not be returned. You are advised to make copies of any material submitted

Finalists will be contacted directly through contact details provided during entry submission. Finalists will be announced online on September 2019.

The West Africa Media Excellence Conference & Awards winners will be announced at a special event on October 19, 2019 in Accra, Ghana.
